Thanushka Yakupitiyage

Thanu Yakupitiyage is an activist, resource mobiliser, cultural organiser, communications/media strategist, and deejay living in Brooklyn, New York. She is originally from Sri Lanka, and grew up in Thailand. She is a resource mobiliser supporting frontline climate, environmental, and land justice organisations in the U.S. to move forward their campaigns. As a DJ and cultural organiser, Thanu used the artist moniker “Ushka” and has utilised dancefloors and club music as an alternative space to create community, fundraise for social justice causes, and envision a joyous world we could all live in.
